Despite the Nintendo DS Lite making an appearance at the National Museum of Western Art in Japan, it is not there to be admired by curious visitors as a relic from the past.
Instead, the DS Lite is used as a tool to enhance the visitor’s experience to the museum. Each DS Lite is equipped with a special cartridge that comes with contents regarding different artwork all over the museum. As individual rooms come with their own access point, the DS subsequently display information that is relevant to the current room.
Should the visitor find a painting or portrait that really catches his/her fancy, that visitor can print a copy by sending the order via the DS and collect it before leaving the museum.
