How ironic. I know that Sega has been developing software for Nintendo ever since they closed shop in terms of hardware, but it is still hard to accept that fact considering the Genesis and SNES had one of the most bitter rivalries in the history of home consoles.
Sega’s Oshare Majo Love and Berry (Love and Berry Dress up and Dance in the USA) is their attempt to lure girls into the dark, dank world of gaming via an electronic card game which requires one to plug in a card reader into the GBA slot on the DS. The cards in this game are then used to dress up your character with some rather questionable fashion.
Sega has not forgotten the male segment of the population as well, launching the MushiKing electronic card game which involves beetles wrestling against each other, and for what purpose, I can’t imagine.
Will this new genre spawn a new generation and camp of gamers? Time will tell, but I think that these titles will probably appeal to a certain demographic and remain obscure on most gamers’ radars.
