Black Jack – another surgery game for the DS

A single Osamu Tezuka license is definitely insufficient as Sega has picked up the license for Black Jack in order to provide some much needed company for Astro Boy. The premise of Black Jack places you in the shoes of Dr. Jotaro Honma who has distanced himself away from the Hippocratic oath, offering his l33t medical skillz to those who are willing to pony up the ca$h. As with Trauma Center, operations take place on the touchscreen itself, where players have to draw shapes over manga panels in order to perform a successful surgery. Does this sound fun? Will you pick this title up when it is released? Source: DS Fanboy

Rafa Nadal goes one up on FedEx in DS battle

Tennis superstar Rafa Nadal might play second fiddle to maestro Roger Federer on the professional tennis circuit, but he has served an ace against the latter by having his very own self-titled game debut on the Nintendo DS next year. Development of the eponymous Rafa Nadal Tennis is being handled by Spain-based Virtual Toys, offering players the chance to play an engaging set of tennis or two on-the-go. Touch screen controls will play an integral role in the game, and with over 20 events that span across 17 international locations, you won’t run bored anytime soon. You can choose to start off in Rafa’s very own tennis shoes, or create your very own character to take the tennis world by storm. There will be the usual 5 attributes in any tennis game that is so important – serve, forehand, backhand, smash, and speed. Look out for Rafa Nadal Tennis in store shelves sometime early next year. Local wireless multiplayer support is also included in the package.

Styletap brings Palm OS gaming to Windows mobile devices

The Palm OS platform might be dying, but over the years there has been tons of game developed and released for it which will not run on today’s Windows-dominated mobile device market. Enter StyleTap, an application that bridges the divide between both platforms, enabling Windows-powered devices to run Palm OS applications, and more importantly – games without suffering from any performance hitches. StyleTap is currently available in a two-week trial version, while those who want to jump on the bandwagon straightaway can pony up $49.95.

CityPipe now available from Clickgamer

When Plumber and Tetris get under the sheets together, their bastard offspring is known as CityPipe. This game features 40 levels which are sculpted to look as lifelike as possible. Puzzle heads can pick up this try-or-buy title now from Clickgamer for $11.95. Frankly, the mobile device segment that are not made up of consoles excel best in turn-based strategy and puzzle games, as frantic shooting action will place too much of a burden on the processor. Pump It Up to appear in Korea

In a pretty weird manner, the PSP is one of the better platforms available for the music game genre, which was definitely not what Sony had evisioned when they first released this handheld. Pump It Up is pretty much in the same vein as Dance Dance Revolution, and proved to be quite the popular title in Korea. A PSP version should be making its way to Korea soon after appearing on Sony PSP’s official Korean site. Pump It Up uses diagonals and a center button during gameplay, which leads us to question – “How will such a control scheme be mapped on the PSP?” We’ll leave that for you to ponder upon. Raging Thunder review

All About Symbian has a brand new review of Raging Thunder, which pays homage to the great arcade racer of the early 90s – Daytona Racer. This title by Filao will definitely keep owners of mobile devices that run on both Series 60 2nd Edition and UIQ platforms. The omission of Series 60 3rd Edition could pose a crucial blow to Raging Thunder sales as most devices shipped these days run on that platform. Marketing flaw aside, Raging Thunder offers a comprehensive driving game that tosses realism out of the window and concentrate on asphalt burning, tire grinding action instead. The controls are tight, and there is more than enough gaming rush to give you the high of beating a checkpoint. Graphically, Raging Thunder is as good as it gets on the Symbian platform, but pales in comparison to other specific handheld consoles due to a lack of hardware processing power. You can’t really complain much though, as $15 won’t get you very far these days even in terms of gaming. Raging Thunder is a great title to pick up, but you will feel as empty as the fuel tank when the race is over. Source: All About Symbian

New demos available for PSP

One great thing about the PSP platform over the Nintendo DS is the ability to download and play demos, very much in the same vein as PC gaming. If you like the game, you can proceed to the checkout counter and pay for it. Dislike it, you’ll save yourself a cool $50 in the process to spend on another day. Despite Loco Roco having plenty of demos swimming around in cyberspace, the good folks at PlayStation forums noticed that YourPSP will be lifting the curtains on a Christmas-themed demo of Loco Roco to keep the Halloween demo company. Another demo that is bound to drive the gaming industry wild would be the PSP-only Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII title. A playable demo ought to be released by the end of the year according to insider sources. Looks like PSP owners will have a great time feasting on these sneak previews during the upcoming holiday season! Source: PSP Fanboy

Spanking new DS Lite bundles for French

Christmas has come early for the French as there will be two new DS Lite bundles available in the form of Sonic Rush and Project Rub, with the corresponding game included in each of the respective boxes. In addition, proud new owners of the Sonic bundle will get a limited edition Sonic figurine and T-Shirt. Word has it that the Project Rub package will cost €129.99, with the Sonic Rush bundle a wee bit more expensive at €169.99. Source: DS Fanboy

Namco brings Mr. Do to cellphones

Do more with your cellphones as Namco preps itself to port over arcade classics Mr. Do and Mr. Do’s Castle to mobile devices in the coming summer. The release could not have been too timely as it has been two dozen decades since the original was released in arcades. Mr. Do will still be doing what he does best all those years ago, dropping fruit on dinosaurs while hankering around, collecting cherries in the process. Cellphones might not have the processing muscle of the Sony PSP or Nintendo DS, but at least the availability of classic arcade games make life a little more bearable during those short toilet breaks. Sneak Peek of Xyanide Resurrection

PSP owners will be delighted to catch hold of some new screenshots of Playlogic’s new shooter which is known as Xyanide Resurrection, courtesy of Gamespot. I’m not too keen on the premise of the game as it involves shooting larger-than-life pre-pubescent, scantily-clad boys in outer space, but there are sure to be a few folks who would beg to differ. Whatever floats your boat, mate. Playlogic claims that this game will feature video-streaming technology that meerges both video backgrounds and real time game screens, touting it to be the first in a handheld game. Those in the Nintendo camp beg to differ as they claim that Nanostray on the DS and Iridion 2 on the GBA have already forged this path. Source: PSP Fanboy
